Aguas de Telde

-news-science-matters-2018-nov-26?jjj=1543329254816

Please see the above link to the BSGC newsletter about our visit to the desalination and water Plants in Telde. The children were very well behaved and curious. They learnt a lot about water sustainability and I believe some of them have put some ideas into action at home.

We also had some lovely feedback on Twitter:
Fue un auténtico placer recibir a los chicos del @BritishSchoolGC . Los más peques representan nuestro futuro que debe ir de la mano de la #sostenibilidad y cuidado con el #medioambiente. #SomosAgua💦

Meet the Stuarts!

As you know, in Topic lessons we are travelling through time looking at Fashion through the ages, as social history. This week it was the turn of the Stuart period. What better way to learn about 17th century fashion than be getting creative! The children could choose to make a noble-man from the Stuart era or a noble-man from France.

Measuring Length

In Maths, we have been measuring length. As this is such a practical activity, it would he helpful if the children could practice using a ruler or tape measure at home to carefully measure items. It is always fun to do practical activities, they could estimate first, then measure.

If it is a small item to the nearest mm.

Eg. Paper clip. Estimate= 3cm 5mm or 3.5cm or 35mm
Actual measurement= 2cm 8mm or 2.8cm or 28mm

If it is a larger item to the nearest cm.

Eg. Height of brother.  Estimate= 1 m 15 cm or 1.15m or 115cm
Actual Measurement= 1m 3cm or 1.03m or 103cm

Eg. Length of bedroom. Estimate= 4m 60 cm or 4.6m or 460cm
Actual Measurement= 5m 38cm or 538cm or 5.38m

Have fun!

Odd Socks Day

We wore odd socks for anti-bullying week. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity for children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! It's cool to be different!

Reading Comprehension

Here are some online reading comprehension activities to keep you busy! The 'Deduction' and 'Finding Information' ones are the best, if you don't have time to do them all:

This link gives you lots of reading texts with multiple choice comprehension questions:

Parents: this is a brilliant site to help with reading for meaning, you can sign up for a free trial, but after that you have to pay a subscrption. The website does an evaluation of your child's level and builds on reading comprehension progressively. The section for children at this level is Reading Eggspress for 7-13 year olds:
